Clinton, Iowa Miriam A. Healless, age 87, of Clinton, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center North. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Christ Episcopal Church. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the service time Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Miriam was born in Clinton on May 15, 1930, the daughter of Edward and Alberta (Gundelfinger) Milder. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1948. Miriam married Tex Healless on October 21, 1950 in Clinton. Tex passed away on October 16, 2006. Miriam was the librarian at Longfellow School for many years. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years, belonged to antique and quilting clubs, volunteered for Mobile Meals with her husband and enjoyed traveling. Miriam is survived by five children; Kathleen Healless and Sharon Enwright both of Clinton, Mary (Darwin) Andresen of DeWitt, Michael Healless of Virginia and Ted Healless of Muscatine; three grandchildren, Tara, Heidi and Molly and four great grandchildren, Garrett, Hadli, Adalynn and Landree. Clinton, IA Steven J. “Steve” McDonnell age 69 of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at his home. In following Steve’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Church of the Open Door. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM with a lunch to follow at the church. Burial will be at a later date. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Steve was born in Clinton on October 31, 1948, the son of Eugene and Gloria (Barth) McDonnell. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1967 where he played both football and basketball. He attended Clinton Community College. Steve married Lucia Lawlor at St. Mary’s Church on March 29, 1969. He was a self-employed floor covering contractor working with Lawlor Rug Company, Petersen-Hagge Furniture and Carpetland. He attended the Church of the Open Door. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids, fishing and traveling. Steve loved sports, especially basketball, following the Chicago Bulls and Iowa Hawkeye’s. Steve is survived by two sons; Christopher (Karleen) McDonnell of Iowa City and Luke (Angela) McDonnell of Low Moor; a daughter, Jessica McDonnell of Davenport; five grandchildren, Claire, Matthew, Nicholas, Sabine and Ezra; his mother, Gloria McDonnell of Clinton; two sisters, Nancy (Bill) Peart of Clinton and Debra (John Charles “JC”) Monroe of DeWitt; a son-in-law, Scott Housenga of Low Moor and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, a daughter, Luciana Housenga and a grandson, Micah.

Donald W. Ginter - 83

Beloit, WI Donald W. Ginter, age 83, formerly of Beloit, WI, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Big Meadows Care Facility in Savanna, IL, surrounded by his wife and daughters. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com Don was born on January 5, 1935 in Trenton, NJ, the son of John and Kathryn (Stephens) Ginter. He married Eileen Brockelbank on June 16, 1956 in Hopewell, NJ. After receiving his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel Institute of Technology, Don was hired by Fairbanks Morse in Beloit, WI. He and Eileen moved across the country to Wisconsin to start a new life together, where he worked for Fairbanks for 38 years, retiring in 1997. Don’s love and passion for railroads led him to be part of a small group of like-minded individuals who formed Mid-Continent Railway Museum in North Freedom, WI. He was named curator of the museum and served for more than 30 years. Among his many curatorial accomplishments, Don developed the first formal cataloging system for the museum’s archives. He also was instrumental in the formation of Lake States Railway Historical Association in Baraboo, WI, and served as a Trustee until his death. He was a loving husband and provider, as well as a dad who taught life skills to his daughters. During his life, he was an extremely hardworking man and enjoyed spending time in his workshop, gardening, and tending his yard and trees. Don is survived by his wife, Eileen; two daughters, Sue (Jed) Ginter Watson of Grayslake, IL and Julie (Michael) Dunn of Clinton, IA; three grandchildren, Ashley (Jalan), Erin, and Eric; two nieces, Tracy and Melanie; and his sister-in-law, Janice Ginter. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack.

Clinton, IA JoAnn D. Andresen, age 83, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Mercy Living Center South. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 16, 2018, at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Darryl Pagel, Philip McCully, Tim Fullick, Kory Plagge, Adam Holm, Kyle Fullick and Jason McCully. JoAnn was born in Clinton on June 29, 1934, the daughter of Clyde and Anna (Outzen) Zirbes. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1952. She married James “Pete” Andresen on November 26, 1955, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clinton. JoAnn was employed as a secretary with the Clinton Public School System retiring in 1997 from Whittier Elementary School. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, watching “Dancing With The Stars” and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. JoAnn is survived by her husband Pete; three daughters, Julie (Darryl) Pagel of Webster City, IA, Sally (Philip) McCully of Buffalo Grove, IL and Kathy (Tim) Fullick of Lakeland, TN; six grandchildren, Melissa, Sarah, Molly, Kyle, Jason and Jamie; a great granddaughter, Brooklyn and a brother, Edward (Ardena) Zirbes of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Herbert married Patricia Doty on Aug. 14, 1955 in Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton. He worked with E.I. DuPont as a casting operator for over 38 years. He also was a crossing guard for the Clinton School System for over 20 years. Herbert was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Camanche VFW, and the Clinton American Legion. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed camping, traveling, and attending his granddaughters sporting events. Herbert is survived by his wife, Patricia Feldt of Clinton; two sons, Terry (Jeanne) Feldt of W. Des Moines and Jeff Feldt of Clinton; his five granddaughters, Angela, Kasey, Christa, Jamie and Jackie. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Telephone Pioneers. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed housekeeping, music, playing cards, and crossword puzzles. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Don Enwright of Clinton; three children, Bryan Enwright of Phoenix, AZ, Sheila (John) Vining of LeClaire, IA, and Brent (Mari) Enwright of Kenosha, WI; five grandsons, Neil (Cassie), Nathan, Jordan, Christian, and Grant; and two great grandsons, Hagen and Hudson.

He married Betty Inman on Dec. 27, 1957 in Clinton, she died in 2011. He worked in maintenance at E.I. DuPont for many years and as a welder and crane operator for Bridgeworks in Clinton. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, auctions, mushrooming, and roller skating. Raymond is survived by his daughter, Lynette Shadle of Clinton; his son, Brent (Pennie) Shadle of Morrison, IL; his granddaughter, Devin; two great grandsons, Bryce and Brayden. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, and three sisters.

Dennis "Denny" Sander - 70

Clinton, IA Dennis L. “Denny” Sander, age 70 of Clinton, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center North. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 13th from 4:00-8:00 pm at Eagle Point Pavilion, Clinton, Iowa. All friends and family are invited to attend. Denny was born in Clinton, Iowa on December 31, 1947, the son of Clifford and Lois (Dusenbery) Sander. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1966 and attended the University of Dubuque. He was drafted into the US Army and served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Following his time in the service he attended and received his BA Degree in Physical Education from St. Ambrose and his PhD in Zoology. He married Sandra Jordan on September 26, 1970 in Clinton. Denny served as a Deputy with the Clinton County Sheriff's Department before becoming Clinton County’s first Probation Officer, retiring in 2009. While at Clinton High School, Denny was a four-sport athlete and member of the 1964 Iowa State Championship baseball team. He was offered a minor league contract with the New York Mets, but chose to go on to college. He was an avid softball player, not only playing on teams which won State and Regional titles, but he was also inducted into the Iowa Softball Association Hall of Fame. He coached Little League and youth football teams, refereed, umpired and worked the time clock for Clinton Community College basketball games for many years. Denny was a devoted Iowa Hawkeye and River Kings and Queens fan. He enjoyed his Canadian fishing trips and fantasy football and baseball leagues. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Denny is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 47 years Sandy; three daughters, Shannon (Jeff) Sander-Welzien of Clinton, Erin (Jacob) Thoms of Clinton and Kali (Zach) Sweers of Sycamore, IL; a son Jordan (Linsey) Sander of LeClaire; 10 grandchildren, Nevaeh, Owen, Ella, Mazie, Ty, AJ, Cora, Landen, Ruby and Frances; two brothers, Greg Sander of Clinton and Scott (Paula) Sander of Cedar Rapids, many nieces and nephews, and his "nurse dog" Blu. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Anoop "Noop Dog" Aggarwal and his staff. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the YWCA Clinton. She also worked at the Clinton County Court House in the Recorders Office for over 10 years; retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Isaac Walton League, Clinton Bowling Association, and the 600 Club. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, fishing, baking, and spending time with her family. Lois is survived by her three children, Marcia (Reynold) Christiansen of Fulton, IL, Larry (Lynn) Kelley of Clinton, and Bill (Patty) Kelley of Scottsdale, AZ; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces/nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers.

The Pape Funeral Home, Clinton is assisting the family. Donald was born in New Boston, IL on October 17, 1927, the son of Floyd and Ruth (Garrett) Figg. He graduated from New Boston High School. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Donald married Thelma Breiner on March 27, 1955 in Blandinsville, IL. Thelma passed away on March 13, 2015. He farmed with his brother in law for several years before becoming a Postmaster in Keithsburg for many years. He was a member of the American Legion and had been a Boy Scout leader. Donald is survived by four children; Ron (Cheri) Figg of Clinton, IA, Peggy (Chuck) Pople of Kirkland, WA, Tom (Shari) Figg of Waukesha, WI and Kevin Figg of Keithsburg; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; 4 brothers, Arlie, Bob, Roger and Chuck and 4 sisters, Reva, Della, Marcella and Gaynor.
