Clinton, Iowa Orville G. Krogman age 80 of Clinton, passed away Saturday Jan. 14th at the Alverno Health Care Facility. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Friday Jan. 20th at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be held 4 – 8 PM Thursday Jan. 19th at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Casket bearers will be Alan Krogman, his godsons; Jason Kaczinski, Patrick Clemence, Tom Krogman, grandsons; Ryan Dierickx and Jack Krogman. He was a veteran of the US Air/Naval Reserves for over 6 years. He married Phyllis Kaczinski on Sept. 9, 1961 in Bryant, Iowa. Orville lived and farmed the family farm for over 72 years. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and Knights of Columbus. Orville enjoyed spending time with family, watching R.F.D.-TV, listening to polka music, going to farm sales and touring the countryside. Orville could talk to anyone, he never met a stranger. Orville is survived by his wife, Phyllis; six children, Sheryl (Jerry) Dierickx of Marysville, WA, Paul (Robin) Krogman of Clinton, Brent Krogman of Plano, TX, Scott (Jennifer) Krogman of Ellington, CT, Beth (Michael) Kroymann of Clinton, and Andrea (Blake) Thompson of Clinton; 13 grandchildren, Ryan, Erin, Montanna, Ciera, Emma, Jack, Abigail, Mathias, Conrad, Otto, Evelyn, Charlotte, and Madeline; two brothers, Robert (Marijo) Krogman of Clinton and Merle (Mary) Krogman of Stockton, IL; two sisters, Donna Burke of Uplands, CA and Joan Kremer of Dubuque, IA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and his special in-laws.

Clinton, Iowa Phyllis Cain age 87, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center North. In following Phyllis’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the Pape Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 6:00 P.M. Following the service a celebration of Phyllis’s life will continue at Rastrelli’s. Burial will be at a later date in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Phyllis was born in Clinton on October 31, 1929, the daughter of Peter and Julia (Schneider) Schoel. She graduated from Lyons High School and attended nurses’ training school in Davenport. Phyllis married Michael Joseph Cain on June 4, 1949 at St. Irenaeus Church in Clinton. Joe passed away on June 2, 1979. Phyllis had worked at Beez-Mousel’s and later at the Mississippi Belle. She was a longtime Girl Scout leader and with her husband, enjoyed camping and boating on the River. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, and macramé. Phyllis is survived by four children; Julie Cain Hill of Kodiak, AK, Mike (Sue) Cain, Dave (Susan) Cain and Gail (Joseph G.) Hlubek all of Clinton; seven grandchildren, Tegan (Ken) Callahan, Noah Hill, Michael Peter Cain, Chad (Elysia) Cain, Stephanie Cain, Casey (Holly) Hlubek and Jessica Hlubek; eight great-grandchildren; her brother, David (Carol) Schoel and several nieces and nephews. Clinton, Iowa Pauline M. Alm, age 86, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 at her home. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Prince of Peace Parish where a rosary will be recited at 6:45 P.M. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, January 19th at Prince of Peace. Burial will be St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Ladies Auxiliary or the Prince of Peace Building Fund. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Pauline M. Dollieslager was born February 12, 1930 in Geneseo, Illinois to Peter Dollieslager and Elizabeth Matthys-Dollieslager. On September 16, 1951 Pauline married Wallace E. Alm at St. Patrick’s Church in Colona, Illinois. They celebrated 65 years of marriage in September, 2016. Pauline graduated from Geneseo High School in 1948 and attended St. Anthony’s School of Nursing in Rock Island, Illinois. She then began her career as a Registered Nurse at St. Anthony’s Hospital. Her nursing career continued at Mercy Hospital in Clinton and she worked for and with Dr. Joseph Monahan at Medical Associates for over 30 years. Pauline enjoyed being with her family, celebrating birthdays, holidays and special occasions. Pauline was also an active member of Prince of Peace Parish and attended Mass daily. Pauline is lovingly survived by her husband, Wally; daughters: Nancy (Bill) McClimon, Charlotte, Christy (Keevin) Foster, Camanche, sons: Bob (Twyla ) Alm, Camanche, and Dan Alm, DeBary, FL; grandchildren: Jill (Todd) McClimon-Whitehead, Tom (Nicole) McClimon, Stephen (Dawn) Alm, Jeff Alm, Cyanna (Matt) Boggess, Ashley (John) Riley, Mallory (Joe) Morgan, Abbi (Joel) Triphan, Molli Bachenberg, and Tony (Marisa) Foster; great grandchildren: Samantha, Blake, Zachary, Hunter, Trenton, Alexis, Rylee, Parker, Ella, Mirah, Cole, Addison, Maddox and Baby Morgan and many nieces and nephews. Marilyn married John Walton on April 4, 1961 at St. Mary’s Church in Clinton. John preceded her in death. Marilyn had been employed at A.C. Nielsen Company and later with the Mississippi Belle II. She was a member of Prince of Peach Parish and a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bingo and going on bus trips with friends. Marilyn is survived by two children; Mark (Rita) Walton of Clinton and Kim (Greg) Treadwell of Huntsville, AL; a granddaughter, Sullivan Treadwell; a step-grandson, Ryan Rebelsky; and her best friend of many years, Eleanor Jones of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Bill Norris. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.

He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He married Darline Goenne on Feb. 17, 1956 in Clinton, IA; she died in 2010. He worked for E.I. DuPont in Clinton for over 50 years and later worked at RC Smith Transportation. He was a life-member of the former St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Clinton. He enjoyed doing yardwork. Roy is survived by his two daughters, Stephenie (Brian Ruhl) Struve of Port Byron, IL and Barb Moore of Wausau, WI; two grandchildren, Michael and Emily Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Moore, and a sister, Dorothy.

She married Leo C. Droste on January 5, 1946, at the old San Gabriel Mission, San Gabriel, CA. They moved to Iowa where they raised their family and farmed. Mary’s life was dedicated to her husband and her family. Survivors include her children, Mary (Bill) Bloom of Waukee, IA, Bernadette (Kevin) Kavanaugh of Apple River, IL, daughter-in-law, Cheryl Droste of Camanche, William (Carol) Droste of Rosemount, MN, Therese (Jim) Juneau of Gretna, LA, Margo (Terry) Jett of Spokane, WA, Donald Droste of Clinton, Tricia (Mark) McNaghten of Spokane, WA, Judy (Barry) Buntemeyer of Goose Lake, IA, Kathleen (Ron) Brueher of Coeur d'Alene, ID, Edward Droste of Clinton, Sister Catherine Joseph (Paula) Droste, OP of Nashville, TN; 36 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren. She married Gerhardt Rickertsen on Sept. 21, 1947 in Charlotte, he died in 1990. Dorothy was a homemaker and worked at Northeast Middle School Library and seasonally with Naeve Hybrid in Bryant. She was a hard worker and instilled a good work ethic in her children. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charlotte. She enjoyed doing yard work and watching videos of her great grandchildren on social media. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Basketball fan. Dorothy especially enjoyed the “Great Glahn Girls Getaway” annually meeting with her dear friends. Dorothy is survived by her four children, Darwin Rickertsen of Rock Island, IL, Wanda (Bob) Walker of Clinton, Carol (Ed) Reuter of Sabula, and Marsha (Jack) Nahigian of Wilmette, IL: 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Lola (Eldon) Wiese of Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Wesley.

Clinton, Iowa G.M. “Doc” Solberg DVM of Clinton, peacefully passed away at the age of 85 on January 7, 2017 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Special Connections Unit in Savanna, IL with family at his side. A celebration of life will be held for friends and family from 1 - 4pm on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Pape Funeral Home 2308 Pershing Blvd in Clinton, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either The Connections Special Care Unit at Big Meadows or to the G.M. Solberg Wildlife Rescue, which two of his granddaughters have started in his honor. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com Doc was born on April 14, 1931, in Cylinder IA, to Oscar and Minnie (Nordby) Solberg. He graduated from Armstrong High School, Armstrong, IA. He then honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. When he returned from the service, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree and then his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University, graduating in 1963. While attending college, Doc and Delores (Wall) were united in marriage on May 10, 1958 at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Ames, IA. He founded Ambassador Animal Hospital in 1964 and then became truly dedicated to the care of all animals. He would have worked 24/7 if he could have, and sometimes he did. This left little time for hobbies although occasionally he could be found at the Fulton Country Club early in the morning, before work, chasing a little white ball. Doc and Delores did take some time to travel but it was hard to get Doc away from work. They have to be the only couple ever to go to Poland for the weekend! Doc is survived by his wife Delores Solberg of Clinton; three children, Scott (Leslie) Solberg of Clinton and their children, Heather Kerens from Ames IA, Dylan, Morgan and Lyndsi (Adam) Frahm and their children, Hunter and Forrest, all from Clinton, IA, Susan Solberg of Melborne FL; Jason (Rorie) Solberg of Corvallis, OR and their children, Mason, Jacob and Chloe, all from Corvallis, OR; and his sister, Aloah Welp from Marshalltown, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother. The Solberg family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Big Meadows for their excellent care of Doc, in mind, body, and spirit.

In 1968 she married Werner Heine in Morrison, IL. Ruth loved to travel and was an avid reader. Ruth is survived by two daughters, Gabriele Carter of Herndon, VA and Andrea (Larry) Dunmore of Janesville, WI; a daughter in law Jennifer (Todd) Schau of Goose Lake, IA; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeremy) Frost, Kasey (Joshua) Rosburg, Marisa and Payten Heine, Kyla Schau, Ashley (Kipp) Lange, Geof (Paige) Dunmore, Matthew (Erin) Dunmore, and Katie Carter; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Werner, and her son Philip Heine.

Walter married Jolene C. Stoltenberg on October 9, 1957 in Clinton; Jolene passed away in 2001. Walter was a supervisor at Central Steel for 22 years. He later was employed at Rose’s Wood Products for 10 years, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed fishing, watching TV, and his animals. Walter is survived by two sons; David Chase of Clinton and Donald (Jen) Chase of Clinton; a daughter, Deborah (James) Lawrence of Wolf City, TX; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife – Jolene, a son – Daniel, a daughter – Diana, 3 sisters, and a brother.
