Maurice I. Miller - 8611/20/1929 - 2/3/2016
Maurice I. “Moe” Miller, age 86 of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Mercy Living Center North. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, February 5, 2016 at Pape Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 6th at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be his grandsons: Brad and Eric Bodin, Peter Shupp, Mark Mahmens Jr., Jeffrey and Michael Schneidermann and Luke and Jeremy Miller.
Moe was born in Troy, OH on November 20, 1929 the son of Dr. Maurice and Izola (Conklin) Miller. He graduated from Troy High School in 1947. Moe enjoyed 68 years of marriage to his high school sweetheart, Iva “Lou” Bittikofer, whom he married on May 31, 1947. He received his BA degree from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio in 1951. They moved to Clinton from Troy in 1964. Moe was plant manager at Jim Walter Window Components and later was plant manager for Air Vent, retiring in 1991. Following his retirement, he and Lou moved to Florida. They moved back to Clinton in 2011 to be closer to family.
Moe was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte. In his early years, Moe was an avid golfer, water skier, trap shooter and enjoyed family activities. In retirement, he started M & L Enterprises and he and Lou traveled the trap shooting circuit. He was an Iowa Hawkeye fan and one of his proudest moments was being on the Kinnick Stadium field with his daughter Shelly, a pom-pom girl at the time while his future son-in-law, Mark was playing for the Hawkeyes.
Moe is survived by his wife Lou, four daughters: Sandy (Jim) Bodin of Cedar Rapids, Sharie (Mike) Shupp of Ames, Shelly (Mark) Mahmens of Clinton and Sue Schneidermann of Cedar Rapids; a son Scott (Monica Murphy) Miller of DeWitt; a daughter-in-law, Lori Miller of Clinton; 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, sister Jane (Dale) Doland of Fairborn, OH, half-sister Gayle Kovacs of Fairborn, OH, several nieces and nephews. Ronald was born on April 23, 1955 in Morris, MN, the son of Ralph and Lois (Haack) Christopherson. He has shared his life with Tammy (Koncel) Christopherson for over 25 years. Ron worked as a truck loader at I.P.S.C.O. in Camanche for many years. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and the outdoors.
Ronald is survived by the love of his life, Tammy Christopherson of Clinton; four children, Ryan (Trisha) Christopherson of Manito, IL, Bryan (Lori) Christopherson of Camanche, Paul (Lindsey) Christopherson of St. Peters, MO, and Amanda Christopherson of Clinton; two step-children, Daniel Linares and Stephanie McWilliams both of Chicago, IL; 9 grandchildren; a sister, Cindi Christopherson of Camanche; and a nephew, Mike Malone of Camanche. She was married to Ty Hilmo in 1963 for over 25 years, he precedes her in death. She was a bookkeeper at Climate Control, Clinton and did seasonal taxes. She was later an outpatient substance abuse counselor for the hospital and an assistant for Clinton Schools. She attended the Church of the Open Door. She dearly loved all her dogs. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics, crafts, nature, watching birds, homemaking, and spending time with her family. Mary is survived by her four children, Keith (Annette) Kurt of Brewster, MN, Tami (Brent) Tinderholt of Clinton, Tim Hilmo of Dacula, GA, and Matt (Shannon) Hilmo of Auburn, GA; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Doris (Mervin) VanDeest of Grundy Center; a brother, Tom (Marge) Teasdale of Grundy Center; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Irene was born on Feb. 10, 1929 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Vasily and Magdalena (Draczek) Wasilewski. She received her Master’s Degree from the DePaul University in Chicago. She married William Mungen in 1965 in Wheeling, IL. Irene worked as a Registered Nurse in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. She is a member of the Prince of Peace Parish and the Fulton Country Club. She was an avid golfer and had shot three holes-in-one.
Irene is survived by her husband, William Mungen of Fulton; her brother, Steven Wasilewski of Lindenhurst, IL, who just passed away Saturday Feb. 6, 2016; and her nieces and nephews, William Wasilewski, Casey Wasilewski, Margaret Spaulding, Charles Willes, Kathleen Fritz, and Paul Willes. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Lorraine Willes, and a brother, Adolph Wasilewski.

Leslie was born on November 20, 1946 in Walnut Ridge, AK, the son of Verlin and Juanita (Carroll) Green. He was educated in Moody, MO and Tampico, IL. He attended Northeast Iowa and Clinton Community Colleges and the Oklahoma Horseshoeing School. He served in the US Army from 1964-1966 in Missile Fire Control. Leslie married Connie McClain on Feb. 23, 1973 in Kirksville, MO.
Leslie owned and operated Green’s Horseshoeing for over 25 years. He also worked at IPSCO Tubular as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic until he retired in 2014. He was a member of The American Quarter Horse Association, The American Paint Horse Association, and a lifetime member of the Clinton Horseman’s Association of Clinton, where he served as their Trail Master for the past 25 years. He loved hunting with his collection of black powder firearms, he enjoyed boating, fishing, camping with his horses and mules, and trail riding all over the country. He loved playing his guitar and singing classic country and campfire songs.
Leslie is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Connie of Sabula; a son, Richard (Heather) Meyer of Watertown, WI; a grandson, Jacob Meyer of Sabula; a brother, Kenneth Green of Tampico. IL; five sisters, Jeanetta (Leo) Thompson, Patricia Leonard, Mary (Mark) Martin, Shirley Kennedy, and Kathy (Harold) Sanders all from Tampico, IL; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and John Smith; and several nieces and nephews. Kenny was born Jan. 4, 1940 in Petersville, IA, the son of John and Irma (Kanneberg) Schreiber. He married Mary Krogman on May 9, 1959 in Clinton.
Kenny worked for Allied Steel as a crane operator for 17 years, J.T. Cullen in Fulton as a welder, and the Prince of Peace Schools as a custodian. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. Kenny was a loving, caring husband, and he cherished his family. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was a hard worker and always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be dearly missed by so many.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Mary Schreiber of Clinton; five children, LuAnne (Steve) Hosette of Clinton, Jolene (Micah) Cram of Preston, Kent (Brenda K.) Schreiber of Miles, Lynette (Brent) Yoerger of Clinton, and Eric (Brenda L.) Schreiber of Goose Lake; 13 grandchildren, Nicole and Kelsey; Katie and Kacey; Vincent, Wyatt, and Karissa; Makenna, Emily, Lauren, and Elaina; Abbey and Zach; and two sisters, MaDonna Garien of Clinton and Sherry (John) Campbell of Maquoketa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Kim, a grandson, Joshua, and two brothers, Cecil and David.

Willis Petersen age 96 of Clinton passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center North. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in Andover. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the Pape Funeral Home and from 9:30 A.M. until the service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Willis was born on April 4, 1919 in Andover, IA, the son of Alvin and Alvina (Gehlsen) Petersen. He married Lucile Christiansen on November 24, 1942 in Kahoka, MO. Lucile passed away on October 25, 2013. Willis served in the US Army with the 7th Infantry in the Aleutians Islands. He was wounded in action and received a Purple Heart. He and Lucile farmed his family farm near Andover for many years, retiring in 1984 and moving to Clinton. He had also worked at Krambeck’s Feed and Supply. He was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Andover, where he served on the church council. He was a member of the Andover Lions Club, Loyal Order of Moose, and the former Odeon Club. He enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, and traveling.
Willis is survived by three children, Sheridan Petersen of Morrison, IL, Dean (Carolyn) Petersen of Clinton, and JoAnn Huelse of Clarksville, TN; 8 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, John Boland of Clinton; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Christiansen of Clinton and Norma (Joe) Stafford of Lomita, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lucile, daughter-in-law, Donna Petersen, a sister, Beverly, and a brother, Robert.

Betty was born on May 7, 1935 in Clinton, the daughter of Ben and Margaret (Wooten) Bruggenwirth. She married Donald Shipley on April 18, 1959 in Downey, CA; he died in 1996. She had worked for Swift & Company and Collis Company. She enjoyed playing bingo, doing puzzles, going to the casino, and spending time with her family.
Betty is survived by her four children, Greg (Kelli) Shipley, Laurie Shipley, and Brian Shipley all of Clinton, and Michael Huffman of Camanche; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Nylin of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Rita and Roxanne, a son, Scott, and several brothers and sisters.

David was born on May 19, 1936 in Clinton, the son of Clarence and Lillian (Schlemme) Johnson. He married Mary Lou Hilgendorf on Aug. 4, 1956 in Clinton. David worked at the Clinton Standard Brands, (ADM) in the utility processing and refinery for over 41 years; retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Fulton.
David enjoyed raising and showing his St. Bernard dogs, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and working in his yard. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and L.A. Dodgers fan. David was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved his family dearly, and more than anything, enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow-up.
David is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Johnson of Clinton; three children, Richard (Michaele) Johnson, Cathy (Rod) Eversoll, and Ronald Johnson all of Clinton; five grandchildren, Sean (Annette) Johnson, Allie Eversoll, Ethan (Jennifer) Woods, Cody (Sarah) Johnson, and Courtney Johnson; 11 great grandchildren; his brother, Robert Johnson of Clinton; and his man’s best friend, Belle. He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Richard, a brother, Jack, an infant sister, Doris, and a grandson, Jason Johnson.
