Linda B. (King) Cox, age 68, of Fulton, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 10th at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Linda was born in New Boston, IL on September 13, 1947, the daughter of Wesley and Blanche (Stewart) Bousman. She had been at Nestle Purina (E.S.B.) for 15 years, retiring in 2011. She had also worked as a cook at the Fulton Elementary School and at the Silver Dollar. She enjoyed spending time and taking care of her family, camping, playing cards and Yahtzee, cooking, fishing, and watching movies, especially the Madea movies.

Linda is survived by her husband, Steve Cox of Fulton; five children, Donna (Darek “Rock”) Goldensoph of Clinton, David (Krista) Gibson of Clinton, Ronald (Linda Proffitt) Gibson, Sr. of Clinton, Butch (Tracy) Van Kampen of Fulton and Tess (Warren Williams) Van Kampen of Fulton; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; two sisters, Ann (Jeff) Laughrey of Hanover, PA, and Mary Bousman of Clinton; and a brother, Bob Bousman of Clinton. Michael was born in Morrison, IL on May 21, 1971. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned and operated his own construction company, MS Allen Construction, a company he owned with his Uncle George McCoy and was just beginning to embark on a business in real estate. He loved the outdoors, spending time with friends, his “brothers” and friends of Bill W. He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. Michael was a chef at heart and enjoyed sharing his culinary creations with his loved ones.

Michael is survived by his loving girlfriend, Donna Peters; his mother, Kathy Kent Allen; two daughters, Taryn Schleuning of Clinton and Ashley Allen of Mesa, AZ, and two grandchildren, Kayleigh and James, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by an Aunt and Uncle, Vickie and George McCoy and grandmother, Carol Wiebenga.

David A. “Sonny” May, Sr. age 54 of Clinton, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals following and extended illness. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Pape Funeral Home. Following the visitation a dinner and celebration of Sonny’s life will continue at the Church of the Open Door. All are invited to attend.

Dave was born in Clinton on February 6, 1961, the son of Virgil B. and Eloise E. (Schipper) May. He married Julie DeMarr. Sonny had managed a cranberry marsh and had also been a fire watcher in Hayward, Wisconsin. He had worked in the construction field and been employed with Economy Coating. Sonny was affiliated with the LCO Tribe. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, his dog Danny, making “dream catchers” and whittling canes. He was a nature lover.

Dave is survived by four children; Nicole (Brad Herold) May of Arcadia, WI, Toni (Gerardo) Ixba of Clinton, David May, Jr. of Clinton and Joseph Chandler May (and his mother, Louise Chandler)of Hayward, WI; seven grandchildren, Rio, Santiago, Alexcia, Loucas, Andrew, Rogelio and Gerardo; his mother, Eloise May of Clinton; four sisters, Ethel May of Clinton, Debbie Dersham of Albany, IL, Connie (Rick) Greene of Spring Green, WI and Patty (Niles) Davis of Clinton; two brothers, Ronald May, Sr. and Robert Dick both of Clinton and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death his father, his grandfather and two brothers, Jacob and Virgil Dick.

Milt was born August 29, 1928 to Roy A. and Ida M. (Drews) Steege in Clinton, Iowa. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1946. He married Georgia Vore on December 16, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served in various offices and committees. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955. He retired from DuPont with over 38 years of service in April, 1985. From 1985 to 1990 he worked with DuPont and EDS of Dallas, Texas in Information Systems. He participated in the AARP/RSVP income tax volunteer program for 20 years, volunteered at Wyndcrest Nursing Home and was a member of the Fulton Country Club. He enjoyed the Gold Star Honor Flight of the Quad Cities on September 20, 2012.

Survivors include his wife; sons Paul (Martha) Steege of Omaha, Nebraska; Craig Steege of Tracy, California; four grandsons, a granddaughter, two great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Ida Steege, two brothers, Elmer and Werner Steege and a sister, Lucille Pillers. Darlene was born on August 23, 1927 in Andover, IA, the daughter of LeRoy and Bernice (Thielen) Hagge. She graduated from Lyons High School. She married Henry Mumm on February 16, 1947 in Clinton. Henry passed away on June 17, 2000. Darlene and Henry owned and operated the Follett’s General Store for many years. She had also worked at the Clinton Credit Bureau. She was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge. Darlene enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening and was also an avid Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Darlene is survived by her five daughters, Carol Byers of Madison, WI, Vicki (Mark) Holle of Dane, WI, Sandy (Clark) Reter of Folletts, IA, Karen (Steve) Murphy of Clinton, and Kathy (Tracy) Anson of Clinton; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marlene Melvin and Jeanne Mumm both of Clinton; and three brothers-in-law, Pete Mumm of Morton, IL, John DeWitt of Clinton, and Olen McVicker of Camanche. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and two sisters.

Ruth was born in Clinton County on December 2, 1944, the daughter of William H. and Everil B. (Lange) Harlock. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1963 and received her AA Degree from Clinton Community College in 1990. Ruth married Harlan Whiting in 1964. She was employed at Northwestern Bell as a long distance operator from 1964 to 1979. Ruth was a baptized and confirmed member of St. John Lutheran Church. She had been a member of the Early Bird Bowling League at the Plaza for many years.

Ruth is survived by two sons, Joel W. Whiting and Matthew W. Whiting both of Clinton; a granddaughter, Stephanie J. Whiting; and two sisters, Velma (Gerald) Christiansen of Longview, WA and Ellen (Harlan) Gluesing of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents. Shirley was born on Nov. 29, 1932 in Bryant, IA, the daughter of Morris and Alma (Voss) Petersen. She graduated from Charlotte High School in 1949. She married Pierce Smith in 1978 in Los Angeles, CA. She worked for the US Government for several years, TEAC electronics, and was also homemaker and remarkable cook. She was a member of the Lutheran Faith. She enjoyed her extended family, pets and had a love for all animals.

Shirley is survived by her four stepchildren, Nadine, Nancy, Whit and Craig; grandchildren, April, Devon, and Holil; and great grandchildren Courtney, Parker, Charles, Rainey and Piper; two sisters, Darlene Coder of Clinton and June Houser of Waukesha, WI; three brothers, Richard (Sharon) Petersen of Clinton, Kenneth (Nancy) Petersen of Morrison, IL, and Larry V. (Joyce) Petersen of Clinton; and several nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Pierce, and two sisters, Donna DeSaw and Jean Marie Petersen.

Stephen T. Stumbaugh, age 73, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P M. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Stephen was born in Clinton on August 22, 1942, the son of Sam and Florence (Meinke) Stumbaugh. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1960. He married Penny R. Martensen on September 3, 1960 in Sterling. Penny passed away on January 25, 2008. While in high school Stephen had been a member of the 1958 Clinton High School swimming team which won the state championship. He had been an Eagle Scout and a life guard at the Clinton pool. He was a member of the former Odeon Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Stephen loved the river. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping, hunting and cooking. He followed the Iowa Hawkeye’s, Chicago Bears and the Cubs.

Stephen is survived by three daughters, Lori Hinsch, Stephanie West and Stacy (James) Evers all of Clinton; a son, Jason (Leslie) Stumbaugh of Clinton; eight grandchildren, Laurisa, Chelse, Kendra, Matt, Hannah, Aaron, Garrett and Kaitlyn; a great grandson, Reece and a sister, Elle Kennedy of Clinton. Adam was born in Davenport on November 27, 1967, the son of Paul M. and Arlene (Mitchell) Herrig. He graduated from Davenport West High School and received his A.A. Degree from Hamilton Tech. Adam married Amy Fennelly on July 22, 1989 in Davenport. He later married Karen Burman on December 11, 2013 in Las Vegas. Adam was employed at ALCOA. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, golfing, and was an avid reader.

Adam is survived by his wife Karen; two sons, Lucas and Callahan Herrig both of Davenport; his parents, Paul and Arlene Herrig of Davenport; six brothers and sisters, Lisa (Richard) Cooksey of Bettendorf, Paul (Katy Morgan) Herrig of Davenport, Amy (Doug) Valentine of Cedar rapids, Laura (Robert) Shaw of Davenport, Pete (Lisa) Herrig of Davenport and Mike (Wendy) Herrig of Dubuque; two step-children, Krista (Brian) Deur of Holland, MI and Kari (Eric) Dyjak of Ankeny, IA; five step-grandchildren, Myleigh, Madelynn, Charlie, Avary and Austin; his father and mother-in-law, Charles and Helen Leavens of Clinton; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte (Dave) Daehler of Thomson, IL and Jan (Herb) Benshoof of Fishers, IN and many nieces and nephews. Donald was born in Cresco, Iowa on March 15, 1933, the son of Elmer and Annette “Nettie” (Halverson) Greenslade. He graduated from Assumption High School in Cresco in 1952 and attended college in Chicago where he earned an AA Degree. Donald served with the U.S. Army for two years at the White Sands Proving Grounds. He had been employed as an engineer at International Paper and later at Custom Pak. He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church. Donald designed and manufactured many packaging patents. He enjoyed visiting with his friends and family, working on his many projects, and living on the Mississippi River.

Donald is survived by children Kathleen (David) Lundberg of Bettendorf, Iowa and Mark Norman of Wesley Chapel, Florida; was preceded in death by two children, Stacy Hessong and Steve Norman; has six grandchildren, Matthew, Megan, Meara, Anna, Hunter and Janie; two great grandchildren, Tanner and Adelynn and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two children; four brothers, Paul, Richard, Elmer and Robert and two sisters, Mary and Viola. Memorials may be made to the Clinton Humane Society.
