V. Beverly “Bev” Reckman age 85, of Clinton, passed away Friday September 25, 2015 at the Alverno Health Care Facility, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday September 30, 2015 at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday September 29th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
Bev was born on November 5th, 1929 in Clinton, the daughter of Louis and Luetta (Kreinbring) Reed. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1947. Bev married Fred Reckman on January 4, 1947 in Clinton. Fred passed away in 2012. Bev worked as an assistant manager at Walgreens, retiring in 1992. Bev was a member of Chancy Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, embroidering and fishing with her husband during trips to Wisconsin.
Bev is survived by 7 children; Nancy (Ray) Kappes of Hewitt, TX, Duane (Linda) Reckman of Sherwood, AR, Thomas (Julie) Reckman of Clinton, Diane (Pat) Luckritz of Clinton, Karen (Mike) Schmidt of Cabot, AR, Ronald Reckman of Fayetteville, NC and Michael (Beth) Reckman of Davenport, IA; 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, a sister; Betty Fischer of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and a brother; Edward Reed of Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her step-father; Edward Christiansen, a grandson; Eric Schmidt, two brothers; Dale and Bill, a sister Myrna and an infant sister Ivadale.

Michaele was born on Sept. 5, 1939 in Davenport, IA, the daughter of Thomas and Cora (Powers) Lawlor. She graduated from St. Mary High School in 1957. She married James Golinvaux in 1959 in Clinton. She was a homemaker and would go out of her way to help anyone in need. Michaele was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, and entertaining.

Lila was born in Maquoketa, IA, on August 28, 1934, the daughter of Wilmer and Wilma (Harder) Mann. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1952 and attended Mt. St. Clare College. She married John Luckritz on September 10, 1953 in Clinton. John passed away on February 27, 1985. She later married Virgil Masse on October 12, 1985 in Clinton. She was a homemaker and member of Grace Episcopal Church, the former St. Helen’s Guild where she had served as treasurer, the former St. Faith’s Alter Guild, where she had served as president, had lead a youth group at Grace and volunteered and served funeral luncheons. Lila was also a member of the Spinner and Weavers Club. She enjoyed knitting and card making.
Lila is survived by her husband, Virgil of Clinton; her son, Denzil (Lisa) Luckritz of Cape Cod, MA; her daughter, Diane Zech of Port Orchard, WA; a step-daughter, Teri (Ben) Drury of Miles, IA; four granddaughters; two great grandsons; three step grandchildren, and her sister, Nancy (Wayne) Nieland of LeClaire, IA. Dolores was born on March 13, 1929 in Clinton, the daughter of Max and Emma (Meyer) Nave, Sr. She graduated from Lyons High School. She married Curtis Andersen on Aug. 21, 1948 in Clinton, he died June 6, 2004. Dolores worked at Eagle Foods (Main Ave.) in Clinton from 1961 until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, where she served funeral luncheons for many years, the Fulton Country Club, and a charter member of the Valley Oaks Golf Course. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing cards, and knitted baby caps for Mercy Auxiliary.
Dolores is survived by her son, Jerry (Mimya) Andersen of Thomson, IL; two grandsons, Brian Andersen of Clinton and Kevin Andersen of Kailua, Hawaii; a great granddaughter, Chealsa Andersen of Camanche; and several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six sisters, two brothers, a niece,
and two nephews.

Leola was born on October 9, 1925, the daughter of George and Malinda (Schroeder) Johannsen. She graduated from Miles High School and worked for a short time at Climax Engineering Company in Clinton. Leola married Wilbert Behrens on December 6, 1945. Wilbert passed away on November 21, 2011. After her marriage She was a homemaker and worked the farm with her husband. She was baptized and confirmed in the Congregational Faith. She enjoyed gardening, reading, genealogy and collecting stamps. She was a longtime blood donor having donated more than 25 gallons to the American Red Cross. Leola also taught Sunday school and bible school for several years at the First Presbyterian Church in Miles where she had also served as president of the Presbyterian Women for two terms.
Leola is survived by three daughters, Kathleen (Donn) Williams of Phillips, WI, Janet (Wayne) Steen of Phillips, WI and Janelle (Dennis) Eggers of rural Clinton; three sons, Daryl (Laurie) Behrens of Clinton, Jerald (Julee) Behrens of Livingston, TX and Kevin (Laurie) Behrens of Clinton; eight grandchildren, Beth, Dawn, Michael, Jeffrey, Tara, Cory, Chelsea and Joshua; three great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five great step-grandchildren and five great-great step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Rodney Johannsen and a sister, Iota Behrens. Memorials may be made to the Sarah Harding Home or Bickford Cottage.

Virtus B. Meyermann, age 86, of Clinton, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Alverno Health Care Facility. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, September 14th at St. John Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 3-7 PM on Sunday, September 13th at the Pape Funeral Home and from 9:30 AM to the service time on Monday at the church. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pall Bearers will be his grandsons and a great grandson. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Virtus was born in Clinton on February 27, 1929, the son of Benjamin A. and Zelda (Schwartz) Meyermann. He graduated from Elvira High School in 1947. He married Lois Drews on March 2, 1952 in Clinton. Virtus farmed his entire life. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the Farm Bureau, the Andover volunteer fire department and the Extension Council for Iowa State University. He was past director of Hampshire Township, drove a school bus for the Elvira schools and had read meters for REC for 15 years. Virtus sang in the church choir for over 70 years, had served as an usher, trustee and elder for many years, was a charter member of the Young Marrieds at St. John, President of the Couple’s Club, now the Fellowship Club, and the A.A.L. now Thrivent.
Virtus enjoyed religious music, singing with the Country Chorale, the Barber Shop Chorus and in the Messiah and He dearly loved his wife, his family and his friends, who he would help in many ways. His hobby was his church.
Virtus is survived by his wife, Lois; four children, Paul Meyermann of Clinton, Jane (James) Hess of Cedar Rapids, Jon (Ellen) Meyermann of Clinton and Sheryl (Larry) Gray of Clinton; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a brother Raymond (Jeanette) Meyermann of Camanche. Marvin C. “Muffy” Zastrow age 96 of Clinton, Iowa passed away Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Bickford Cottage Assisted Living in Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday September 9,, 2015 at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 8th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery, where the Clinton AMVETS will conduct military honors. Casket bearers will be Kyle and Kevin Saddoris, Reid Bowers, Rick Michaelsen, Tom Klahn, and Dale Kruse.
Muffy was born on November 4, 1918 in Clinton, the son of August and Margaret (Hass) Zastrow. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1937, where he was the marching band’s Drum Major. Upon graduation he attended Scoville Business College. He was a Sergeant in the US Army during WWII, serving under General Patton in the 3rd Army with the 94th Infantry Division, 301st Head Quarters Artillery Battalion from 1942-1945.
Muffy married Lois Shepard on September, 15, 1946 in Clinton. Lois passed away in 2004. He owned and operated Muffy’s Men’s Shop on Main Ave. for over 38 years. He was a proud sponsor of many bowling teams and the Muffy’s Rox, a youth baseball league. Muffy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 190, VFW Post 8486, Loyal Order of Moose, Lyons Club, LBPA and the former Odeon Club. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, camping, traveling, and playing cards. He liked watching sports and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He made friends with nearly everyone he came in contact with and will be truly missed.
Muffy is survived by his two daughters, Marvette (Roger) LaVaque of Neenah, WI and Denise Saddoris of Clinton; five grandchildren, Reid (Amy) Bowers, Kimberly Saddoris, Kevin Saddoris, Vanessa Bowers and Kyle Saddoris; two great grandchildren, Julian and August Bowers; a niece, Judy Hammen; two nephews, Keith and Ed Zastrow, and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Shepard. Annabelle was born on Oct. 12, 1918 in Olin, IA, the daughter of Amos and Lottie (Nodurft) Spillman. She married Carl Von Essen on Mar. 25, 1935 in Clinton, he died in 1983. She was a homemaker and had worked at Krukow’s Grocery, Cooper’s Grocery, the Tillman Variety Store all in DeWitt and the Circle Inn Café in Eldridge. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in DeWitt, North Auxiliary Club, and various card clubs in DeWitt. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, cooking & canning, and she loved to dance.
Annabelle is survived by her two daughters, Judy (Ralph) Henningsen of DeWitt and Joyce Brown of Cordova, IL; 6 grandchildren, Tim, Christine, Jeff, Tony, Scott, and Sheri; 12 great grandchildren, Casey, Megan, Robert, Ashley, Hannah, Samantha, Sam, Ana, Jeremy, Jordan, Jacob, and Jarrett; 2 great-great grandchildren, Kenadie and Evie; and several nieces and nephews. Brown. She graduated from Thomson High School in 1975. She married Ronald Hardt on April 9, 2005 in Clinton. She was a secretary in the Radiology Department at Mercy Hospital for more than 20 years. She was a member of Lyons United Methodist Church. Jackie's greatest joy was going to her grandchildren's sporting events and other activities, where she was their number one fan.

Jerry was born on Nov. 9, 1951 in Clinton, the son of Frank and Margaret (Steiner) Vosatka. He was a Clinton High School graduate. His greatest joys in life were bicycling, boating, being outdoors, and spending time with the "light of his life" as he would say, his Ter Lynn and Little Boy Landon. He made friends with nearly everyone he came into contact with and will be truly and lovingly missed by family and friends.
