Jackie was born on March 31, 1937 in Clinton, IA, the daughter of Edwin and Grace (Thomsen) Dolan. She worked at the Sarah Harding Home, Clinton in housekeeping for many years. She enjoyed “digging in the dirt”, collecting “stuffies”, playing billiards, bowling, and cooking. She was a member of the Clinton AMVETS Auxiliary. She attended the Methodist Church.

Jackie is survived by her brother, James J. (Joni) Dolan of Clinton, IA,; two sisters, Annamarie (Michael) Sanford of Clearwater, FL and Mary Elizabeth (Richard) Lingle of Low Moor, IA; her special nieces and nephew, Derrick (Sheryl), Krista (Jimmy), Heather (Matt), Amber (Benjamin), Charlene, Denise (Patty), and Pam; six great nephews, Steven, Maxwell, Ethan, Mason, Cooper, and Josh; and four great nieces, Hannah, Sierra, Elizabeth, and Alice. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Barbara.

Eileen T. Clancy, age 81, of Clinton, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center North. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

Eileen was born in Clinton on June 4, 1934, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Lanaghan) Clancy. She attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in1952. She married Ronald Van Buer in Clinton in 1957. Eileen was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. She loved her family and enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s games and activities, reading and music.

Eileen is survived by four children; Josie (Mark) DeVries of Bellevue, Anna Kash of Clinton, Nancy (Eric) Dahlhauser and John Van Buer of Nashville, TN; ten grandchildren; Alexis, Mark, Logan, Jessica, Jenna, Whitney, Jennifer, Andy, Lauren and Jacob; ten great grandchildren and a brother, Edward (Shirley) Clancy of Westchester, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Joseph in 2014; a brother, Thomas, and a sister, Mary Jo.

Donald Krambeck - 96

Donald F. Krambeck age 96 of Clinton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Prairie Hills Assisted Living in Clinton. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:30 AM Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the First Congregational Church, Clinton. Visitation is planned for Saturday Jan. 9th9:30 AM until the service hour at the church. Burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery, with military rites held by the Clinton AMVETS. Donald was born on Feb. 27, 1919 in Davenport, IA, the son of Frank and Josephine (Waspi) Krambeck. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1936, where he won state championships in Debate and was Co-Valedictorian of his graduating class. After graduation he moved to Clinton and managed Early Bird Hatchery and where he met the beautiful Myrle Bickford. They married on June 18, 1938 in Clinton and enjoyed a blessed 59 years until she died in 1997.

In 1940, Don bought the Early Bird Hatchery and renamed it Krambeck Feed and Supply Company, where he owned and operated the business for more than 45 years. The business grew to a Regional Agri-Business and was recognized multiple times by the Ralston Purina Company, Hy-Line Poultry Farms, and others.

Don’s greatest passion was flying airplanes. He took his first flying lesson in 1938 and by 1940 received his commercial license and instructor rating. Following the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1942, Don joined the Army Air Corp, where he was assigned as an Air Transport Command Pilot. He was assigned to the China-Burma-India Theater in support of the famous Flying Tigers. He flew a documented 155 missions as a chief pilot. He received many military service medals including the Air Medal with multiple oak leaf clusters.


He was a member of the First Congregational Church, Clinton for more than 60 years, Clinton Rotary Club, Izaak Walton League, American Legion, V.F.W., Scottish Rites Masons. His community service includes the Clinton Airport Commission, director of the Iowa Grain & Feed Association, director of the Iowa Poultry Association, director of the Camanche State Bank (20 years), board member of the Mercy Hospital Foundation, Clinton County Historical Foundation, the Mississippi Valley Alzheimer’s Association, and the Clinton Chamber of Commerce.

His greatest community service was his commitment to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association, where he personally raised over $800,000 and was the leading individual fundraiser in the nation for many years. For his dedication, he was awarded the Clinton County Bar Association Liberty Bell Award and the Governor’s Volunteer Award from Gov. Terry Bransted. He looked forward to his annual week long canoeing trip down the Mississippi River and its tributaries with the Great River Rumble Group, participating well into his 90’s.

Donald is survived by his son, James (Gail) Krambeck of West Des Moines, IA; three grandsons, Brent (Samantha) Krambeck of Chicago, IL, Scott (Carrie) Krambeck of Denver, CO, and Matthew (Brina) Krambeck of Naperville, IL; eight great grandchildren, Ben, Macy, Lucas, Avery, Dylan, Colin, Ian, and Ashtyn Krambeck. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Myrle, four brothers, Karl, Paul, Stanley, and Jack, and a sister, Beth.

Don was a devoted caretaker of his wife, Myrle during her 10 years of declining health, a man of strong faith, a consummate story teller, and who never met a stranger. Don had a strong allegiance to the people of Clinton and touched many lives. He will be missed and fondly remembered by many. The family is deeply grateful to the staff of Prairie Hills Assisted Living for their professional and compassionate care. Memorials may be given in Don’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Iowa Chapter, 1730 28th Street, West Des Moines, Iowa 50266, First Congregational Church, Clinton, or the Clinton Rotary Club (Eagle Point Park Pavilion Renovation Project).

Charles P. McDonnell, age 86 of Clinton, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015 at Eagle Point Nursing Home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Charles was born in Clinton on April 16, 1929, the son of John and Mary (Dever) McDonnell. He graduated from Lyons High School. He served with the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War. Charles married Norma Caviness on July 23, 1955 at St. Mary’s Church in Clinton. He was employed at Clinton Corn Processing Company for 39 years. Charles was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. He enjoyed playing bridge, story- telling, lawn work and gardening.

Charles is survived by his wife, Norma; two children, Pam McDonnell of Park City, IL and Charles (Karen) McDonnell of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Kristin Groff and her husband, Nathan Holmes of Chicago, Jill (Robi) Mitra of Clarkston, MI, Bradford McDonnell of North Liberty, IA, Lauren Groff of Eden Prairie, MN and Elizabeth (Jordan) Cunningham of Baltimore; three great grandchildren, Mathilda, Charlie and Thomas; a brother, Robert McDonnell and two sisters, Rita Turner of Clinton and Natalie Regan of Grand Mound. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a sister.

Benton was born on Aug. 4, 1952 in Boone, IA, the son of Ralph and Charlotte (Long) Ray. He worked as a machinist at Rockford Separators in Rockford, IL for many years.
Benton is survived by his three sons, Brian (Deb) Ray, Benton Ray, Jr., and Brad Ray all of Clinton; three grandchildren, Anthony, Samantha, and Racheal and two great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary (Frank) Proud and Theresa (Glenn) Melvin both of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-brother, Virgil.

Karen was born on March 21, 1949 in Clinton, the daughter of Glenn and Doris (Peters) Carlson. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1968. She worked at A.C. Nielson for 22 years and later at PFC. She is a member of First United Methodist Church. Karen absolutely enjoyed spending time with her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews and she had a love of animals.

Karen is survived by her mother Doris Carlson of Clinton; a brother Richard Carlson of Waverly, IA; a sister Rita (Craig) Dinsdale of Byron, MN; six nieces and nephews, Stacey Parks, Adrien Kessler, Amanda Taylor, Jaime Miller, Calvin Dinsdale and Chelsea Dinsdale; and seven great nieces and nephews. DuWayne was born in Morrison on August 14, 1945, the son of Gerald and Margaret (Vos) Ottens. He married Cindy Shields Bice on February 9, 1990 in Clinton. DuWayne worked retail for several years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. DuWayne enjoyed horseback riding with family and friends, playing marble games, cooking, and listening to the scanner when his boys were working.

DuWayne is survived by his wife Cindy; four children, DuWayne (Kathy) Ottens of Clinton, Dean Ottens of Clinton, Becky (Bryan) Buhman of Bettendorf, and Brian Shields of Albany; eight grandchildren; a sister, Beverly Swanson of Morrison, a brother, David Ottens of Morrison, and his father and mother-in-law, Merle “Pat” and Helen Bice of Clinton. Wanda was born on May 20, 1931 in Clark County, Iowa, the daughter of Bruce and Flossie (Erb) Kelley. She married Donald Hammond on June 4, 1950 in Miles, IA. She was a school teacher at a one room school house near Bryant, IA and worked as a bank teller at the Miles Savings Bank for 19 years. She was active with the County Corral. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, and was active with her church.

Wanda is survived by her three children, Michael (Susan Dibble) Hammond of Arlington Heights, MA, Roxanne (Craig) Gustaveson of Iowa City, IA, and Robin (James) Kroymann of Clinton, IA; 9 grandchildren, Andrew, Timothy, Douglas, Lyndsey, Samuel, Michael, Scott, Jon, and Rory; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Kathleen Beal of Holland, MI and Judy (Werner) Paulsen of Moline, IL.
