Allen R. Petersen age 76 of Goose Lake, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City from complications of Multiple Myeloma. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday Aug. 27th at the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held Wednesday Aug. 26th from 3 to 7 PM at the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. The Pape Funeral Home, Clinton is assisting the family. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Allen was born on Dec. 17, 1938 in Clinton, the son of Glenn and Harriet (Henricksen) Petersen. He graduated from Miles High School in 1957 and attended Clinton Community College. Allen married Lavonne Peters on Feb. 8, 1959 in Clinton. He farmed his whole life. He was a member of Elvira Zion Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council; the Low Moor Lions Club, where he enjoyed cooking; and the Clinton County Beef and Pork Producers. He was a pioneer in Clinton County to use the “No Till Farming” method, which is still done to this day. He was also a seed salesman for the Mycogen Company.

Allen enjoyed going to the Goose Lake C-Store for coffee each morning; fishing with family and friends; his family fish fry; spending quality time with his grandchildren and going to their sporting events; and hunting, especially for coyote. Allen had a gift to be able to talk to anyone and was a loving man who “never met a stranger”. He will always be remembered as a proud man, who was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Allen is survived by his wife, Lavonne Petersen of Goose Lake; three daughters, Laurie (Jeff) Anderson of Clinton, JoEllen (Travis) Ketelsen of DeWitt, and Kristin (Ernie) Lueders of Clinton; 8 grandchildren, Allen (Amanda), Erick, Alyssa, Nicholas, Tyler, Nate, Ryan, and Sam; a great grandson, McLain; a brother, Dale (Diane) Petersen of Miles; two sisters, Judith (Carlie) Seamer and Susan Raser both of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Ray Raser, and a niece, Tammy Petersen.

Randy W. Collender age 41 of Clinton passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals. Cremation rites have been accorded. Randy was born in Manchester, Iowa on July 5, 1974, the son of Donald and Uncha (Nam) Collender. He graduated from Clinton High School and attended Monmouth College, Monmouth, IL. Randy married Jessica Hart in 1995 in Clinton. He later married Jessica Cullinan on May 31, 2008 in Clinton. Randy was a building contractor, working with his father. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed hunting, camping, spending time with his children, sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. He had also competed in Ultimate Fighting.

Randy is survived by his wife, Jessica; three children, Cody Collender of Cedar Rapids, Chase Collender and Calissa Collender both of Clinton; his parents, Don and Uncha Collender of Clinton; a brother, Ronnie (Carrie) Collender of Mesa, AZ and aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Richard C. “Scotty” Scott - 63

Scotty was born on Nov. 25, 1951 in Clinton, the son of Bob and Audrey (Morehead) Scott. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1970. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard from 1970-1976. He worked for Scott Heating from 1970-1973 and Lyondell from 1973-2005. He married Karen Hovell on July 3, 2007 in Clinton. He retired in 2012.
He enjoyed his dog, Shor-T, woodworking, riding his motorcycle, and boating.

Scotty is survived by his wife, Karen of Camanche; his daughter, Stephanie (Chris) Melvin of Clinton; his son, Brian “B.J.” Scott of Minneapolis, MN; two step-sons, Brian (Tawnya) Wernick and Kevin Wernick both of Camanche; six grandchildren, Alexandra, Mallory, Addison, Jessica, Bailee, Austin; a sister, Allene Klahn of Clinton; three nephews,
Scott (whom Scotty was his godfather), Greg, Randy; two nieces, Tami and Laurie. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a sister, Sheryl, and a great nephew, Clifford.

      Helen Caroline (Hannafan) Dose of Palmer Hills Retirement Home died Monday, August 17, 2015, at the Kahl Home in Davenport after a brief illness.       Helen was born on July 11, 1920 in Clinton where she lived until 2012. She graduated from Our Lady of Angels Academy in 1938, and married Leonard Dose on September 18, 1940. They raised 7 sons and were active in the community. Along with supporting their boys and their activities Helen was also involved in the Mercy Auxiliary, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Boat Club, Clinton High Athletic Booster Club and numerous other activities.

      Helen enjoyed traveling. After retirement they travelled throughout the U.S. and also to Germany, Spain, Kuwait, and Thailand among other destinations. Her other hobbies included card playing and spending time with family and friends. She was a wicked card player!

      Survivors include sons, Leonard W. (Pat) Jr., of Bettendorf, Steven P. (Barb), of Garland, Texas, Thomas J. (Sharon), of Reno, Nevada, and James E. (Becky), Boone; brother-in-law Donald B. (Eileen) Dose, San Diego, California; and daughters-in-law, Mary Lou Hannafan, Clinton, and Sandra Dose of Westminster, Colorado. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard W. Dose, Sr. and by sons, A.J. Hannafan, Timothy A. Dose, and Brian J. Dose.

Marlynn was born in Clinton on January 2, 1953, the daughter of Marvin and Martha (Thomsen) Rallie. She graduated from Northeast High School and attended Mt. St. Clare College. Marlynn married Paul Meyermann on September 29, 1973 in Camanche. She had been employed in food service her whole life, most recently at Prairie Hills Assisted Living in Clinton. Marlynn was a member of the Clinton Church of Christ where she was actively involved in many church functions, included the CEW. She enjoyed life with family and friends, especially spending time with her grandchildren, singing, entertaining, bonfires and garage sales.

Marlynn is survived by her husband Paul; two sons, Tony (Erin) Meyermann of Charlotte and Troy (Michelle) Meyermann of Goose Lake; five grandchildren, Brenna, Brylee, Clayton, Claire and Clohe; two sisters, Kim (Greg Daniels) Snook of Des Moines and Melissa (John Long) Newsom of Bettendorf; two brothers, Hans Newsom of Kansas City, Missouri, Dan (Mona) Rallie and John (Lori) Rallie both of Clinton; several nieces and nephews and her adopted church sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Buck Newsom an infant brother Bradley and a brother, Jacob “Bucky” Newsom.

William M. “Bill” Johnson age 59 of Clinton, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family and our angel Sue Bigwood. In following Bill’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 9:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the Pape Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests casual or sports related attire, Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks or Iowa Hawkeye’s. Following the services a luncheon will be served at the Eagle’s Club. A memorial has been established.

Bill was born in Belleville, IL on June 12, 1956, the son of William E. and Lois (Miller) Johnson. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1974 and attended Mt. St. Clare College. Bill married Jamie Hickey on September 9, 1978 in Clinton. He had been employed at Alcoa in Bettendorf. Bill was a lifetime member of the Eagle’s Club, and the Clinton, Camanche and DeWitt Bowling Associations. He had served on the Camanche Bowling Association Board and was a member of both the Clinton and Camanche Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He had participated in 30 National Bowling Tournaments and had recorded twelve 300 games and three 800 series.

Bill was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks fan. He had played softball in Clinton, Preston and Maquoketa and enjoyed golfing, fishing, sitting by the river, riding in the pontoon boat, socializing with family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife Jamie; a son, William “Billy Joe” (Jessica) Johnson of Clinton; two grandchildren, Madison Marie and William Andrew; step-parents, Fred and Lynn Steen and Vicki Johnson all of Clinton; a brother, Terry (Jackie) Johnson of Machesney Park, IL; two sisters, Lori (Jeff) McIntyre of Shelbyville, IN and Nicole (Derek Ready) Johnson of Clinton and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents and a brother, Richard.

James was born on Dec. 7, 1937 in Lyons, IA, the son of Harley and Helen (Loundroche) Luce. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1957. He married Joan Richert on Nov. 8, 1958 in Green Bay, WI. James was a bus driver for Clinton M.T.A. for over 37 years and owned and operated Luce Tax Services in Clinton for over 30 years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fulton, where he was a Eucharist Minister.

James is survived by his wife, Joan Luce of Clinton; his daughter, Troy (Jody) Brown of Rockford, IL; 7 grandchildren, Melissa, Kyle, Carly, Jessica, Patrick, Hope, and Faith; 5 great grandchildren, Caleb, Emma, Asher, Haiden, and Harper; two sisters, Valeria Webb of Camanche and Pat Farley of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Helene in 1959, a son, Clark in 2009, and a sister, Doris in 1994.

Virginia was born in Bloomer, Wisconsin on March 16, 1940, the daughter of Truman Edwin and Vera Clare (Powers) Hoagland. She attended schools in Wisconsin. Virginia married Leon Clark. She later married Tim Hoffman who preceded her in death. In her younger days Virginia enjoyed singing in her father’s band. She was a homemaker and was known for raising chickens.

Virginia is survived by six children; Mark (Trudy) Clark of Waterville, WA, Ryan Clark of Moore, OK, Matthew Clark of Belle Plaine, IA, Tim Clark of Clinton, Tammy (Dan) Brockett of Cherokee, IA and Cindy Kimmer of Maquoketa; 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two brothers, Phillip “Dave” Hoagland of Clinton and Joseph Hoagland and her husband in Christ, Billy Hensley of Clinton. Clarence was born on March 6, 1926 in Clinton, the son of Frank and Josephine (Bormann) Krogmann Jr. He was a veteran in the US Army from 1944-1946, serving in the European Theatre in Austria and Germany during WWII, with the 510 Field Artillery Unit. He married Mardella Hagge on Dec. 19, 1951 in Clinton. He was a farmer his entire life and did carpentry work for over 20 years. He was a man always willing to help others. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #363, where he was trustee for 12 years and with a Fellowship Degree, the Miles American Legion #677, and the AMVETS #28.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Mardella Krogman; his three children, Earl (Debra) Krogman, Janet (John) Taylor , and Dean (Beth) Krogman all of Clinton; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; two brothers, Arnold (Mary) Krogmann and Lester (Betty Boehmer) Krogmann both of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and two sisters.
