Virginia C. Hoffman, age 75 of Clinton, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 at Eagle Point Nursing Home. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Pape Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 4:00 P.M.

Virginia was born in Bloomer, Wisconsin on March 16, 1940, the daughter of Truman Edwin and Vera Clare (Powers) Hoagland. She attended schools in Wisconsin. Virginia married Leon Clark. She later married Tim Hoffman who preceded her in death. In her younger days Virginia enjoyed singing in her father’s band. She was a homemaker and was known for raising chickens.

Virginia is survived by six children; Mark (Trudy) Clark of Waterville, WA, Ryan Clark of Moore, OK, Matthew Clark of Belle Plaine, IA, Tim Clark of Clinton, Tammy (Dan) Brockett of Cherokee, IA and Cindy Kimmer of Maquoketa; 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two brothers, Phillip “Dave” Hoagland of Clinton and Joseph Hoagland and her husband in Christ, Billy Hensley of Clinton. Clarence J. Krogman age 89 of Clinton, passed away peacefully with his family around him on Sunday July 26, 2015 at Mercy Living Center South, Clinton. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday at the Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held Tuesday 4 – 7 PM at the Pape Funeral Home and Wednesday 9:30 AM until the service hour at the church. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery, with the Miles American Legion Post #677 conducting military honors. Casket bearers will be Dale Schroeder, Randy Hale, Martin and Michael Burken, Brent Griswold, and Matthew Toppert. Memorials to the Zion Lutheran Church. Clarence was born on March 6, 1926 in Clinton, the son of Frank and Josephine (Bormann) Krogmann Jr. He was a veteran in the US Army from 1944-1946, serving in the European Theatre in Austria and Germany during WWII, with the 510 Field Artillery Unit. He married Mardella Hagge on Dec. 19, 1951 in Clinton. He was a farmer his entire life and did carpentry work for over 20 years. He was a man always willing to help others. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #363, where he was trustee for 12 years and with a Fellowship Degree, the Miles American Legion #677, and the AMVETS #28.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Mardella Krogman; his three children, Earl (Debra) Krogman, Janet (John) Taylor , and Dean (Beth) Krogman all of Clinton; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; two brothers, Arnold (Mary) Krogmann and Lester (Betty Boehmer) Krogmann both of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and two sisters.

Henry “Hank” Stuer, Jr. age 91 of Clinton, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Bickford Assisted Living in Clinton. There will be no visitation or services. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Hank was born in Clinton on August 11, 1923, the son of Henry and Lena M. (Hill) Stuer, Sr. He attended Clinton Schools. Hank served with the U.S. Army during W.W. II with the 8th Armored Division, under General George Patton, in Central Europe, the Ardennes and Rhineland. He also served for three years with the occupation forces as an M.P. Hank married Geraldine “Jerry” Jackson on September 18, 1948 in Clinton. Jerry passed away on October 8, 2004. He was in employed in the maintenance department at E.I. DuPont for 30 years. He served as a Vice President and Director of the Union at DuPont. He enjoyed wood working, vacationing in Wisconsin, spending time with his grandchildren and listening to Leo Greco and Lawrence Welk. He was an Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cub fan.

Hank is survived by a daughter, Kathie Grycki of LeClaire; two sons, David (Rise’) Stuer of Cedar Rapids and Tom (Kim) Stuer of Camanche; eight grandchildren, Kayla (Landis) Andresen, Kyle (Jessica) Justin, Nicholas (Marilee Heath), Nathan and Samantha Stuer, Christopher and Shawn Grycki and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife “Jerry”; a daughter, Susan Neff; son-in-law, Steve Neff; two brothers; a sister; four half-brothers and six half-sisters. Rocky was born on July 23, 1939 in Rock Springs, WY, the son of Oliver and Josephine (Brown) McMahon. He worked in Industrial Construction as an electrician for many years. He enjoyed golfing, dancing, and socializing with friends.

Rocky is survived by his two sons, Rocky (Tonya) McMahon of Clinton and Kerry McMahon of Cedar Park, TX; three grandchildren, Ashley (Brandon), Rocky, and Darian; four great grandchildren, Sydney, Bralynn, Caleb, and Jakobi; a sister, Faith (Gene) Smith of Eagle, ID; and a sister-in-law, Judy McMahon of Greybull, WY. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Amber, and a brother, Keith.

Ronald Paul Lampe was born on Feb. 5, 1939 in Clinton, IA, the son of Paul and Jennie(Stewart) Lampe. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1957. He married Carol A. Blount on Nov. 17, 1958 in Dover, DE, where he was stationed in the Air Force. Ron was very proud to have worked at Alcoa for 38 years. After retiring from Alcoa, he enjoyed working as a greens keeper at Crow Valley Golf Course for 10 years. He loved spending time with his family and friends and was a huge Iowa Hawkeye and Cubs fan.

Ron is survived by his five children, Robert Lampe (Toni Weber) of Marion, IA, Deana (Robert) Fuller of Clinton, Sandra (Mike) Alvarez of Pflugerville, TX, Steve (Suzie) Lampe of Coralville, IA, and Brenda Lampe (Bryant Haack) of Bettendorf; his two sisters Nancy ( R.C. ) Higgins of Columbia, MO , and Norma Blakney (Chuck Klinkner) of Clinton, a brother Richard Lampe of Estes Park, CO; 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and his beloved cat Callie who he called "choo-choo". He is joined in heaven with his wife Carol A. Lampe, who passed away on May 6, 2015, his parents, a brother Tim Lampe, and a sister Shirley Estensen. Carla J. Pals, age 69, of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Clinton Evangelical Free Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday and from 10:00 A.M. until the service time Monday, both at the Evangelical Free Church. Burial will be in Meservey, Iowa at a later date. Carla was born in Peoria, IL on June 29, 1946, the daughter of Elton and Imogene (Ruckle) Musselman. She graduated from Englewood High School, Englewood, CO. She received her BA in Education from Westmar College in Le Mars, IA. and her Masters Degree from Western Illinois University. Carla married Gary Pals on August 30, 1969 in Meservey, Iowa, and they later raised their family in Clinton. Carla's greatest interest and love was her family, and she dedicated much of her time to her children and, later, grandchildren, traveling to visit them often. Carla was also a substitute teacher in the East Central School District for many years. She attended Evangelical Free Church.

Carla is survived by her husband, Gary; four children, Taia (Matt) Gelhaus of Albany, OR, Tifne Pals of Midland, MI, Trent (Rachel) Pals of Warsaw, IN and Trevor (Rachel) Pals of Foristell, MO; 11 grandchildren, Ronan, Elliott, Kian and Sonja Gelhaus, Anna, Hudson, Owen, Landon, Brooke, Ryleigh and Kendall Pals; a sister, Jill (Todd) Matthies of Denver, CO and a brother, Miles Musselman of Denver. Roger E. May, age 74 of Clinton, died Monday July 6th at Genesis Medical Center East in Davenport, IA. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services.

Roger Eugene May, the son of Alfred and Marie (Gifford), was born on November 12, 1940 in Clinton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. On September 5th, 1964 Roger married Sue (Kolk) in Fulton. He retired from DuPont working as an electrician. Roger loved golfing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Roger is survived by his wife Sue, two sons; Thomas May of Morrison and Jason May of Clinton, three grandchildren; Ashlyn, Noah and Dylan, a brother Michael (Cheryl) May of Fulton, a sister Marcia (John) Jaeckle of New London, WI, a great aunt Sarey (Harold) Rycroft and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son and a brother Larry. Those wishing to remember Roger may donate to their favorite charity.
