Susan was born on July 17, 1951 in Clinton, IA, the daughter of Olen and Elsie (Holliday) Austin. She graduated from Clinton High School. She married James Thomson in 1974; together they had four sons. She later married Darrell Dau in 1996. Susan worked at Swiss Colony, Mercy Hospital, Skyline Center, and was a consultant with Pampered Chef. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved celebrating the holiday season with her family. She was active with the Women on Wheels, enjoyed bowling, playing pool, her animals and was an avid NASCAR fan. Susan is survived by her four sons, Jason (Melinda) Thomson of Preston, Eric (Amber Eagle) Thomson of Clinton, Joshua (Candice) Thomson of Sabula, and Adam (Jessica) Thomson of Camanche; seven grandchildren, Heidi, Elsie, Austin, Owen, Tucker, Greta, and Iris; her step-children, Dustin Dau of Camanche, Darren (Liz) Dau of Davenport, and David Dau of Clinton; two step-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren; her sister, Jill Austin of Spring, TX; two brothers, David (Jolie) Austin of Amelia Court House, VA and Bruce (Jane) Austin of Clinton; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-mother, Virginia Austin.

He married Soloman Seahorn on Nov. 18, 2016 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He worked systems operation for enrollment with the National American University in Colorado. Robert was a very successful business man in the higher education field. He enjoyed traveling, music, and was a firm believer in “Paying it Forward”. Robert is survived by his husband, Soloman Seahorn of Denver, CO; his mother and step-father, Marcia (Gene) Wynkoop Giellis of Manchester, IA; his father, Dennis Abbott of Columbus, NE; two brothers, Ryan (Kelly) Abbott of Pratt, KS and Jay (Danielle) Wynkoop of Webster City, IA; two sisters, Hollie Abbott of Cedar Rapids, IA and Paige Abbott of Manchester, IA; nine nephews, Wesley, Curtis, Xavier, Sebastian, Gavin, Braydon, Lucian, James, and Liam and 6 nieces, Karma, Pasha, Maci, Izzabella, Jenna, and Heaven; his grandmother, Carol Wink of Bullhead City, AZ; and a special friend, Chas Beeson of Houston, TX.; and several aunts, uncles, and friends. Charles O. Burke - 96

Clinton, IA Charles O. Burke age 96 of Clinton passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Mercy Living Center North. In following Charles wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Pape Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 P.M. with burial to follow in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Charles was born June 10th, 1921 in Clinton, Iowa, to Charles and Ella Burke. He attended grade school at Almont and Hauntown schools and then went to Lyons High School where he graduated in 1937. Charles married Lois Maxine Corlis on February 20, 1944, in Miles, IA and they farmed in the Teeds Grove area. While still farming, Charles took a second job with Tuner Electric of Clinton. There he learned the electrical trade and eventually left Turner’s to start Burke Electric which he owned and operated for over 30 years. Charles was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Miles where he held a number of church offices. He was a member of the Bellevue Masonic Lodge #51, a 75 year member of the Clinton Western Star Lodge #100 and the Shriners. Charles was also a 65 year member of the Clinton Scottish Rite Bodies. Charles greatest passion in life was singing and playing his guitar, harmonica, accordion and banjo. Many evenings were spent singing and playing music after dinner with his family. Early in his musical career he played at local bars and dances. While performing at one special Farm Bureau dance he met his future wife, Lois. He must have sung pretty well that evening! Later in life he entertained at local nursing homes by playing the guitar and singing. He spent all of his life on farms close to the Mississippi River and enjoyed boating and water skiing with family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and horseback riding with his children. Early in his life, Charles enjoyed playing baseball with local teams. Surviving Charles include son, Alan Burke (Becky) Ft. Collins, CO; his daughter, Gail Levsen (Charles) Clinton, IA; his grandchildren, Erin Burke, Katie Burke (Ft. Collins, CO) Scott Huling (Jennifer) Andover, IA, Megan Brunscheen (Dan) Monticello, IA; and great grandchildren, Nora Huling, Lauren Brunscheen, Reed Brunscheen. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, father and wife, Lois.

Mary was a Registered Nurse at Medical Associates and Bluff Terrace Nursing Home, and taught C.N.A. classes at Clinton Community College, Clinton. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dewitt. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family. Mary is survived by her husband, Richard Lingle of Clinton; three daughters, Pam Lingle of Clinton, Charline Lingle of Dewitt, and Denise (Patty) Lingle of Clinton; three grandchildren, Elizabeth (Scott) Birdsley, Alice (Tom) Drummond, and Joshua (Jessica) Lingle; six great grandchildren, Natalie Grace, Gavin Miles, Gabriel Paul, Lauren Paige, Jocelyn Elizabeth, and Sydney Marie; her sister, Annamarie (Michael) Sanford of Clearwater, FL; her brother, James (Joni) Dolan of Clinton; and special friend, Evelyn Repp of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. The family would like to thank Dr. Edwin Motto and France for their loving care of Mary.

He served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. He married Evelyn Farley on Oct. 4, 1952 in Andover. Duane was a farmer most of his life and was a truck driver for Pillsbury Mills. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Miles American Legion Post #677, a 32nd Degree Mason, and a volunteer for the Andover Fire Department. Duane was a Godparent to Mark, Linda and Tootsie Jones. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, woodcutting, and picking walnuts, cherries, and apples. Duane is survived by his wife, Evelyn Hagge of Clinton; his brother, Kenneth Hagge of Clinton, his sister, Marlene (Gilbert) Bott of Clinton; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-laws, Joan Hagge and Maxine Hagge.

Mary worked at the Clinton National Bank for 46 years, serving as Vice-President before retiring in 2001. She had been a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and later at Prince of Peace Parish, Clinton. She enjoyed golfing, watching sports, and spending time with her family. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Mary Jo is survived by her two brothers, Robert (Marilyn) Powers of West Des Moines, IA and Donald (Kathy) Powers of Macomb, IL; her sister-in-law, Jane King-Powers of Clinton; her brother-in-law, Otis Clay of Aurora, IL; and multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Paula Powers-Clay in 2003, and her brother, Richard “Bud” Powers in 2002.

She was a member of First Congregational Church, Clinton. Viola enjoyed baking and traveling with her husband. Viola is survived by her husband, Rueben Kinzler of Clinton; her son, Darrell (Kathleen) Kinzler of Houston, TX; her grandson, David Kinzler of North Hampton, MA; her sister, Verna Schafer of Eugene, OR; and 8 nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and two sisters.

Helen AnnMarie Mallinger - 92

Clinton, Iowa Helen AnnMarie Mallinger, age 92, of Clinton, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 at her home. A private graveside service was held at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home assisted the family. Helen was born in Lyons on September 13, 1925, the daughter of Paul and Elfrieda (Kunde) Zaehringer. She married Ray Malllinger on September 21, 1945 in Fort Jackson, SC. Ray passed away in 1988. Helen had worked at Lyons Drug Store and for Ma Bell. She was a member of the former St. Irenaeus Church where she served as church secetary under Fr. Philip Ryan. Helen had helped take care of children for a number of years for Lyon’s and Clinton churches. Helen is survived by three children; Daniel Mallinger of Camanche, James Mallinger of Clinton and AnnMarie Mallinger of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, her husband and a son, Michael. Bobae K. Fogg - 55

Clinton, IA After a five year battle with MDS and AML Leukemia, Bobae Kim Fogg went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 9, 2017. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Bobae Kim Fogg was born to Chan Sam and Okran Kim on February 25, 1962, in the city of Gwang-Ju, South Korea. She married David Fogg in the Stone Chapel at Camp Casey, Dong Du Chon in South Korea on May 9, 1987. From a young age, Bobae had a close relationship with the Lord and aspired to be a nun but was told that her purpose was to share her spirit of love and generosity with the world and that’s exactly what she did. She loved to feed people and make people happy—she would not take no for an answer! Bobae excelled at one of her most difficult professions, an Army wife. Her love made our house a home at Ft. Campbell, KY, Ft. Ord, CA, Ft. Hood, TX, Ft. Drum, NY and Weisbaden, Germany. Bobae owned and operated The Coffee Clinic inside Medical Associates in Clinton where she made many friends. She loved baking, decorating cakes and making eggrolls for her friends. Her fan favorites were her chicken enchiladas and German style Jeager-Schnitzel. Bobae also enjoyed her garden and was proud of her tomatoes, which she made salsa out of. Bobae was a certified Dental Assistant and devoted volunteer on every school trip of her son and daughter. She enjoyed listening to classical music, rides in the convertible and motorcycle cruises to Galena, IL. Bobae is survived by her husband David; her daughter Annie; brothers Kyu-Bong, Kyu-Wan and Kyu-Kwan; sisters Hae-Min and Bo In and many cousins, nieces and nephews in both South Korea and the U.S. She was preceded in death by her parents Chan Sam and Okran Kim; father and mother in law Sidney and Gertrude Fogg; her son Daniel and her cat Mitzy. Bobae was a light and effortless friend to so many and will be missed. Her family was the most important thing to her and she made that apparent in everything that she did.

A visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, November 14th at the Pape Funeral Home. Following the visitation, cremation rites will be accorded. A private burial will be held at a later date. Nancy was born in Clinton on May 11, 1953, the daughter of Edward and Jeanne (Rood) Jones. She married Donald B. Fisher on May 18, 1990 in Clinton. Nancy worked as a cashier at Eagles Food Market for many years. She will be missed by her fellow residents of Park Towers and prior co-workers from Eagles Foods. Nancy is survived by her husband Donald, sister Deborah Jones, brother Michael Jones, special friends Viola Thomas and Tonya Laher, and her dog Chloe. She was preceded in death by her parents and her dog Oreo. Memorials may be made to the family.
